The Borgias is the sordid saga of one of the most remarkable and legendary families in history. Set in 15th century Italy at the height of the renaissance, The Borgias chronicles the corrupt rise of patriarch Rodrigo Borgia (Academy Award Winner Jeremy Irons) to the papacy, where he proceeds to commit every sin in the book to amass and retain power, influence and enormous wealth for himself and his family. Don't miss a minute of the lavish, sexy, scandalous drama from the creative mind of Academy Award Winner Neil Jordan.

While waiting for Season 5 of The Game of Thrones, I needed something to watch. I came across The Borgias. The Best! Game of who? I was completely enthralled. So clever this show has everything anybody could want.

      Comments about this product:

DVD shows "not rated" and google indicated PG13. If I had known that this series was full of sex scenes of brief nudity and suggestive matter, I would not have ordered the DVD because of my Christian morals and values. It should also be rted "R" for violence. In the future, please indicate the true rating so that a customer can decided whether or not to watched it.

      Sub-titles, dialog problems

          Comments about this product:

A pretty good series with one major problem for me. The dialog is often very difficult to follow. Young and apparently untrained actors were not enunciating properly, unlike Irons, who was perfect. Can't your directer get these actors to stop mumbling? Also, the audio mixing was often poor with music or background noise over-powering the dialog.

I could have accepted those faults had the DVD producers bothered to have sub-titles. I am in my late 50s and my hearing is going. Not gone, but weaker. I watched a few bits of season 2 on cable, liked what little I saw, and bought the DVD set of season 1 without even thinking there would not be sub-titles. I gave up half way through the first episode and I have returned the DVD set.

C'mon guys, how much could it possibly cost to do up a transcript and create a few sub-title files for the DVDs? This is just plain embarrassing, third rate, bush league.

Totally engaging. I rate it right up there with The Tudors, which I thought was fantastic. A must see. Absolutely fantastic acting
