        Comments about this product:

This lengthy series about Henry VIII might not be perfectly accurate in historical events and some liberties have been taken to make the story line more suitable for the big screen; but aside from that, the series is intriguing, suspenseful, extremely well characterized and enjoyable. I loved the costumes and how the costume designer wove the colors of the clothing with the particular scene in which they appeared. The sets were incredible and appeared authentic, and each room was carefully appointed for that particular scene. The acting was fantastic. I did get confused in the early DVDs as to a couple of characters, so watch closely. My husband and I watched the first 2 series within a 14 day period. We couldn't get enough of it!!

The Tudors was an amazingly done series. What I really liked about it is that rather than reduce Henry VIII as a caricature, (overweight, always eating, and carrying a turkey leg all the time.) the focus was on the man himself. Jonathan Rhys Myers does a spectacular job as the king.

My only issue is that this show should have continued on for a few more seasons, focusing on Edward VI, Mary I, and Elizabeth I.

                Comments about this product:

I thought the show was phenomenal. Obviously, the first two seasons were the best but the other two seasons were also very entertaining. JRM is absolutely fantastic and should have won many awards. The only negative part of the show is that the final two seasons were rushed and the show ended way too soon. It would have been much better if the show dedicated a season to each of the wives.

I watched this series on showtime from rooter to tooter...start to finish, and never not once got bored with it. Everything in my DVD collection was movies, I thought buying series made for television was just stupid. This Tudors series has me re-thinking that policy. i noticed a few historical inaccuracies, yet found myself not caring. It is still VERY entertainging, and is as close to "the truth" as a docuDRAMA not documentary should go. Long live The Tudors!

                      Comments about this product:

...it came in like a lion and went out like a lamb.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers as a young, entitled, privileged Henry VIII filled those royal shoes in a manner that should have earned him critical acclaim. With an excellent supporting cast, the viewer is taken through the time period when Katherine had fallen out of favor with Henry and a young Anne Boleyn caught his eye. Season two took us through the period when Henry married Anne, broke from the Roman Catholic Church, and alliances were forged and then broken. Showtime then rushed through Henry's next 4 wives in the next 2 seasons, barely touching on the significant history that was made during those times. Rumor had it that JRM was heading back to rehab -- perhaps Showtime just needed to end the series lest they lose him permanently. They CLAIMED that because the economy was so bad they couldn't afford to put on such a fantastic spectacle any more, but then immediately introduced The Borgias so that "excuse" didn't really wash. Rather, they could have replaced JRM with someone else (older) who could have played an older Henry. LOVED the series when it started out, but it had an Easy Rider sort of finale -- it felt like someone just got tired of writing and hurried through to the end. I wouldn't spend a dime on this series to watch it on DVD, I was that disappointed.
